Join me this Thursday, May 22nd from 2pm to 6pm for the San Marcos Business Expo. This is going to be an excellent opportunity for you to network your business with other small business owners.
I’ll be there for the entire afternoon. Why not stop by and say hello. Check out the website to see some of the businesses exhibiting at the expo. You can make new contacts and hone those networking skills.
We’re having a tropical oasis for the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce Sundowner this Wednesday evening, May 21st at the Mammoth Professional Building, 2888 E. Loker Ave. We’ll be networking near waterfalls off Palomar Airport Road.
The fun begins at 5pm, bring plenty of business cards and look for me…that hat lady
Ok, hubbie’s a fan of Tiger Woods and their PR firm reached out to the bloggers in San Diego County to share the event details with our readers. I’ve been working with a local PR firm here as well, in the same vain, so I found this interesting and decided to share the info with you, even though it’s not really "business related."
I hadn’t seen the ad where Tiger takes a drive off the moon, maybe you have, but here it is. It reminds me of the July 1969 landing when I was standing in the kitchen, looking at the moon and imagining…..
On Thursday, May 15, from 11am-6pm come to Seaport Village and try your luck at beating other people at hitting the longest drive in a golf simulator. San Diego Chargers’ star LaDainian Tomlinson is set to make an appearance. Gatorade Tiger will name a male and female winner in each of the five cities that will host the Moonshot Challenge. The finalists will fly to New York City to compete in the Championship Event in Times Square on June 11th. At that competition, a male and female champion will win the opportunity to create their own “out of this world” experience worth up to $125,000.
On behalf of fans who participate in Gatorade Tiger Moonshot Challenge events, Gatorade Tiger will donate $100,000 to the Tiger Woods Foundation. The Tiger Woods Foundation has reached more than 10 million young people through character development programs, scholarships, grants, and the Tiger Woods Learning Center.

Online Marketer Helps Entrepreneurs Tap Into Wealth of Web Tools

Online resources offer small business owners access to “the free stuff,” according to Debra Simpson, and everybody likes free stuff, she says.
Simpson is owner of Magic In Words, a Carlsbad-based Internet marketing business designed to help entrepreneurs increase traffic to their Web sites.
“I spend a lot of time with my clients teaching them online social networking and how to incorporate those Internet tools into their businesses,” said Simpson, who also produces North San Diego Business@Large, a blog dedicated to North San Diego County business news.
“Most people just need to be shown what the tools are and how to use them, and I think I fit that need,” she said.
In regular podcast interviews with local business professionals and as a guest speaker throughout Southern California, Simpson said she teaches low-cost and no-cost forms of marketing online, while creating passive income via sale of information products.

When I started my first business in 1990, I joined a networking group. The printer was represented by Farrah Douglas, CDS Printing in Carlsbad. I was as impressed with her then, as I am now that I work with her on the Carlsbad Chamber’s Communications Committee.
Farrah is running for the seat being vacated by Julie Nygaard. Farrah and I sat down for an interview I hope you’ll find enlightening. Let me know what you think by commenting below.
